The Commission recommends that the police ensure standards and practices that respect rights and freedoms
In a brief presented today to the Comité consultatif sur la réalité policière, the Commission made a series of recommendations to ensure that police standards and practices are respectful of rights and freedoms. These recommendations address, among other things, the fight against racism, systemic discrimination and discriminatory profiling, the use of information technology, hiring, promotion and training, accountability mechanisms such as data collection, and the manner in which investigations into police work are conducted.
