Training session | Your Rights under the Youth Protection Act and the Youth Criminal Justice Act

Through participatory activities in plain language this training aims at:
- Learning about your rights guaranteed by the YPA and the YCJA;
- Learning about the rights of children that are guaranteed by other instruments such as the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms, the Civil Code, etc.;
- Learning how to make an intervention request to the Commission.
The facilitator evaluates the needs prior to the training in order to adapt, when required, the training to the needs and questions of the group.

Target audience
Youth between 12 and 17 years old in care under the Youth Protection Act (YPA) or the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA) and professionals working closely with them in residents’ or users’ committees.

Objectives
- Improve your knowledge of your rights when taken in care under the YPA or the YCJA;
- Find out what is the role of the Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse.

A maximum of 2 hours.
