The names of the finalists of the Rights and Freedoms Award announced

​​The Commission today announced the finalists for the Rights and Freedoms Award, which this year focuses on the theme "Beyond prejudice, communicate differently". The five members of the jury have chosen four initiatives that invite us to change our perspective by highlighting the human being behind the labels. ​

Montréal, Septembre 20 2019 — The Commission today announced the finalists for the Rights and Freedoms Award, which this year focuses on the theme "Beyond prejudice, communicate differently". The five members of the jury have chosen four initiatives that invite us to change our perspective by highlighting the human being behind the labels. The finalists are:

The winning initiative will be unveiled on December 5 at the Montréal Museum of Fine Arts by the members of the jury composed of : Manal Drissi, columnist and blogger, Normand Landry, Professor at the University of TÉLUQ and holder of the Canada Research Chair in Media Education and Human Rights, Marjorie Villefranche, Executive Director of the Maison d'Haïti and member of the Commission, Emily Laliberté, founder and artistic director of Coup d'éclats, the recipient of PDL 2018 and Philippe André Tessier, President of the Commission.

Since 1988, the Rights and Freedoms Award is awarded each year on the occasion of the International Human Rights Day. It aims at highlighting the exceptional achievement or commitment of an organization or an individual that contributed to the protection and promotion of human rights and youth rights in Québec.
