Rights and Freedoms Award : The Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse annouces a special edition on Indigenous peoples’ rights

On this National Aboriginal Day, the Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse announces that the 2017 edition of its Rights and Freedoms Award will be dedicated to the rights of Indigenous peoples, to mark the tenth anniversary of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

Montréal, June 21, 2017– On this National Aboriginal Day, the Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse announces that the 2017 edition of its Rights and Freedoms Award will be dedicated to the rights of Indigenous peoples, to mark the tenth anniversary of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. Indeed, this year’s Rights and Freedoms Award will highlight initiatives that have promoted the recognition and respect of Indigenous rights throughout Québec over the past decade. These initiatives may include community or educational projects, artistic creation, or the work of a person or a group.
