The protection of personal information is not just a matter of privacy, reminds the Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse
Montréal, February 2 2021 — The Commission is pleased that Bill 64 finally modernizes the privacy legislation that dates back to the 1980s to bring it into line with today's reality where unprecedented volumes of data are being collected and used. At the same time, the Commission would like to point out that the right to respect for one's privacy benefits from specific protection in Québec because it is enshrined in the Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms.
