The Commission wins racial profiling case involving two Gatineau police officers
Montréal, January 19 2021 –The Commission has won a ruling at the Human Rights Tribunal in a racial profiling case involving two City of Gatineau police officers who were ordered to pay more than $18,000 to the victim. The Commission demonstrated to the Tribunal that by being stopped, detained, searched, arrested and issued a statement of offence for disturbing the peace, the victim was subjected to differential and unusual treatment because of her "race" or color.
