Landlords ordered by the Human Rights Tribunal to Pay $12,000 for discrimination
Landlords have been ordered by the Québec Human Rights Tribunal to pay $12,000 in damages to a couple for discrimination on the basis of race, color and ethnicity after refusing to rent them a home. Their case was brought to the Tribunal by the Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse.
Montréal, January 26, 2018– Landlords have been ordered by the Québec Human Rights Tribunal to pay $12,000 in damages to a couple for discrimination on the basis of race, color and ethnic origin after refusing to rent them an apartment. Their case was brought to the Tribunal by the Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse.
