​​The Commission welcomes a judgment obtained from the Human Rights Tribunal in a case involving the exploitation of persons with disabilities. The Tribunal concluded that a couple had been the target of physical, psychological and financial exploitation, as well as sexual exploitation in the case of the complainant. The Tribunal also recognized that their dignity had been violated, in particular by abusing their trust, and awarded $63,000 in moral damages to the victims.

Following the death, under odious circumstances, of George Floyd in the city of Minneapolis, the Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse wishes to express its solidarity with Black communities in Québec and around the world. Systemic racism, discrimination and racial profiling, as well as acts of hate motivated by racism, are serious human rights violations that must be sanctioned.
