Sexual harassment in the workplace : Bill 176 recognizes the role of the Commission

Montréal, March 22, 2018– The Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse is pleased to see its expertise regarding sexual harassment recognized by Bill 176. The bill submitted to the National Assembly on Tuesday confirms the role of the Commission when a complaint concerns sexual misconduct. "Sexual harassment has been an issue of concern to the Commission since its inception more than 40 years ago. Our action has helped to make it a public issue and a human right recognized in the Québec's Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms since 1982. We can therefore only rejoice at the recognition of our actions and of our expertise within Bill 176," said Philippe-André Tessier, interim president of the Commission.
