Rémy M. Beauregard

Rémy M. Beauregard occupied various senior positions in the Ontario civil service from 1986 to 2001. In 1994, he was appointed Executive Director of the Ontario Human Rights Commission, where he worked until his retirement from the civil service in 2001. He helped establish the permanent secretariat of the Canadian Association of Statutory Human Rights Agencies and served as its first Executive Secretary. The president of Rights & Democracy is appointed by order of the Canadian government: Rémy M. Beauregard took up his duties for a five-year term on July 7, 2008.

Rémy M. Beauregard advised the Legal and Constitutional Commission of Rwanda on planning for the 2003 referendum on Rwanda’s new constitution, and from 2003 to 2006 he was International Institutional Development Advisor to the Uganda Human Rights Commission.
